00:00:04:11 - 00:00:30:06 Unknown Recording video and reviewing your footage. Table of contents. Chapter one. Using an external microphone. Two. Recording. Video. Three. Reviewing your footage and wrapping up. Chapter one. Using an external microphone. If you will be recording audio with video, we highly recommend that you use an external mic as the built in microphone on the canon T5. II is low quality before connecting and external mic to the camera. 00:00:30:09 - 00:00:47:23 Unknown We will move the power switch from on to the video camera icon. The camera will now enter video mode. Most mics in the ADC, for example the shotgun mic, require power, while some cameras have phantom power, meaning they can power mic when connected. The canon T5 II does not, and so you will likely need to put a battery in your microphone. 00:00:48:01 - 00:01:07:05 Unknown If you are using a shotgun mic with a camera mount, place it in your mount and attach it to the top of your camera. The canon T5 II has a 3.5mm microphone input located on the left side of the camera. Plug your 3.5mm to three pin audio cable to the microphone input and the other end into your mic. 00:01:07:07 - 00:01:29:05 Unknown Once connected the T5, I will automatically switch mic inputs from the internal mic to the external mic. The next step is to set your audio levels. Press the menu button because we are now in video mode. The menu looks slightly different. Navigate to the fifth tab. Select Sound Recording Manual. Audio level should be around -10 to -20 DV when speaking at a normal level. 00:01:29:07 - 00:01:49:03 Unknown If your levels are too high, your audio can distort or clip. If they are too low, you may introduce additional noise when increasing the volume later. Use the left and right arrows to adjust the audio gain as needed until your levels land in the safe zone and click okay. Unfortunately, the canon T5 II does not have a headphone jack, and so you cannot listen to audio as you are recording. 00:01:49:05 - 00:02:11:08 Unknown Because of this, it's important to do a quick test and listen back to your audio before you begin recording for the day. Chapter two recording video. Before pressing record, we will set your resolution and frame rate. In menu, select the fifth tab over select Movie Rack Size and choose either 1920 by ten NEP at 30 frames per second or at 24 frames per second. 00:02:11:10 - 00:02:33:11 Unknown And now we're ready to start recording. In video mode, the LCD screen will always display your camera's live view. To begin recording, press the camera icon button located beside the viewfinder. Once recording, a red recording indicator will appear on the screen as well as a counter of your record. Run. Time to stop recording. Press the camera icon again and your video will be saved to the SD card. 00:02:33:13 - 00:02:54:02 Unknown Chapter three reviewing your footage and wrapping up to review your photos and videos. Press the playback button on the back bottom right of your camera. You can use the left and right navigation buttons to move between your recorded files. Press the center set button to begin playing the selected clip while your video is playing. You can use the camera's playback controls to pause, rewind, or fast forward through your footage. 00:02:54:04 - 00:03:11:15 Unknown You can adjust the volume using the scroll on the top right of your camera. Once your production is wrapped up, you can turn off the TV. Once the camera is turned off, remove your battery and SD card to release your card. Push it gently and it will eject. 00:03:11:17 - 00:03:34:00 Unknown Rotate the LCD touch screen and tuck it back into the camera's body safely. If your camera came with a lens cap, you can put it back on. You are now ready to get out there and create some content. Thanks for watching our video workshop on the canon t5 II. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to production staff as we are always happy to help. 00:03:34:02 - 00:03:37:06 Unknown With.
