Motion Picture Lab

This service facility houses an Arri 1000 II 16mm/35mm black & white motion film processor, a Peterson 16mm contact printer, a ScanStation Personal film scanner capable of digitizing R8/Super-8/16mm/35mm, plus a film loading room. Students interested in a closer look at the workings of the Motion Picture Lab can email the technician for a tour.

Booking Process

The Motion Picture Lab itself is not available for booking. Lab orders require completion of an online order form, regularly updated with procedures, pricing, etc. The form can also be found via a QR link posted by the lab door.

Required Action

F+PPCM Grad students in the film stream can email the technician to book time on the film scanner once trained.

Hours: Mon – Thu, 8am – 6pm

Orders are dropped off through a red dropbox beside the lab. Completed orders areget picked up and paid for at the Technology Resource Centre on the basement level. 

Processing runs are twice a week, with cutoff times on the form. Results are ready for pickup by 6PM the day after each cutoff.

The lab’s technician can help with a broad array of camera and film related inquiries.
